The big shift

Reddit got ghosted.

Sure, Reddit signed data deals with just about everyone. But since August 14, ChatGPT cites it in 0.5% of answers, down from 3.8%. Google’s AI Overviews didn’t get the memo: still 18.6%.

Two engines, two opinions about the same website. If you only track one number for “AI visibility”, this is the week it lied to you.

Sources

Your own site is the biggest source. Still.

Brand sites made up 31% of citations, mostly pricing, comparison and help pages. Review sites were next at 18%. Blog posts titled “ultimate guide” were, as usual, nowhere.

The page AI wants from you is the one with prices on it.

Category boards

Who’s winning your category.

Three categories a week, 100 runs per engine. “Named” is the share of all 500 answers that mention the brand. Brand names are examples.
